The Early Years
1982
Stella International is founded in Taiwan by Jimmy Chen, Jack Chiang & Eric Chao to produce fashion footwear for US retail customers.
1991
The first Stella Footwear Factory opens in Dongguan, China, marking the beginning of our manufacturing legacy
1994
Stella enters the athletic lifestyle segment, beginning production of men’s leather footwear for BOKS by Reebok.
1998
Stella expands into Vietnam, a key pillar in its long-term regional growth strategy.
Stella starts producing fashion footwear for Nine West Group.
1999
Selena, the group’s first factory dedicated to premium women’s footwear, opens in Dongguan, China.
Stella starts manufacturing sports footwear for Nike, Inc, marking the start of a longstanding partnership.
Global Expansion
2004
Stella begins manufacturing bespoke footwear for Rossi Moda, expanding its presence in the luxury segment.
Stella’s collaboration with Prada begins, marking a milestone in its journey as a trusted artisanal partner for iconic luxury houses.
2006
Stella’s first factory dedicated to servicing Nike opens in Longchuan County, China.
The group’s first premium women’s footwear brand, Stella Luna, launches in China.
2007
On 6th July 2007, the company goes public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the name Stella International Holdings Ltd. (1836.HK).
2008
Lawrence Chen becomes CEO, while Jack Chiang succeeds Jimmy Chen as Chairman of the group, continuing the vision of the founding leadership.
2012
Stella expands into Indonesia, focusing on the production of casual footwear.
Stella Luna goes global, launching the brand’s 1st flagship store in Paris.
2013
The "STELLA LUNA pour ANTHONY VACCARELLO" collection is presented at the ANTHONY VACCARELLO FW13 fashion show in Paris.
Stella enters Bangladesh, further diversifying its production base and strengthening its global supply chain.
2014
To further increase operational agility, Stella expands its footprint in South-East Asia by entering the Philippines.
Stella expands into premium leather goods with its first handbag production for fashion group Tapestry.
Innovation Era
2017
Stella steps into the world of avant-garde high fashion sneakers by partnering with Balenciaga.
2019
Stephen Chi takes over as CEO, ushering in a new chapter for Stella International, as Lawrence becomes Chairman.
2020
Stella’s consolidates its R&D operations into the new Stella Product Creation Center (PCC), enhancing design, development, and innovation capabilities.
2021
A new footwear factory in Solo, Indonesia begins operations, strengthening Stella’s regional manufacturing network.
2023
Stella publishes its first annual ESG report, marking a key step in its journey towards transparency and sustainable impact.
